How will Solution Focused Therapy benefit you?

Our first telephone therapy session will give you the opportunity to think about what small steps you can take towards reaching the way you want your life to be now and in the future (a bit like looking at a map and working out the best route to your required destination).    

Solution Focused Therapy is more directive and shorter term focused than most other forms of counselling, allowing you to work through some of your preferred solutions, in your own time and with your agreement.   I suspend all judgment, assumptions and perceptions because I am not an expert on how you live your life.  

Only you can know what life could look like when the problem/problems you bring to therapy are absent or less severe.   During the session you have the opportunity to focus on finding ways to achieve the most realistic, appropriate and workable solution to your current concerns.

Instead of me aiming to change your way of thinking, or advising you on how to move forward, I ask you to describe/picture a detailed resolution to the problem that brought you to therapy and tell me how you intend to move forward to your required destination.

Your rights to make your own decisions are respected when you reflect on your strengths, abilities, skills, techniques and challenge your past thinking habits.  

Change is inevitable and when you return to session 2, 3 etc, you will bring further experience on coping strategies and solutions connected to the problem/problems you have brought to therapy.
