1st telephone contact establishes:

·      Whether your problem is appropriate for Solution Focused therapy.

·      A choice of appointment times and information on payment.

·      An opportunity to address any concerns you might have connected to therapy.

·      An invitation to think about what goes well for you between this contact and the initial therapy session.

 1st initial telephone therapy session:

·        I get to know a little bit about you.

·        I invite you to think about what your best hopes are from our working together.

·        I ask you to reflect on what life was like before the problem.

·        We establish what you want for your preferred future and how you picture, in detail, and the difference this will make to your daily living.

·        I encourage you to notice what it is you are doing, or have done in the past, that fits with the achievement of your preferred future, and anything that could be useful to ‘do more of’.

·       During the session I will listen, reflect and summarise so that you are able to clarify or reiterate my understanding of the content of your conversation.

·        Towards the end of the first session I will establish the progress you have already made and ask you what the next tiny signs of further progress might look like.

·        At the end of the session I will invite you to notice, between now and the next time we meet, what has changed for the better in connection with your preferred future, no matter how small or insignificant those changes might be.

All that takes place in therapy sessions is treated with respect and discretion and an agreement is made during the first session about confidentiality.   To maintain trust, therapist's discuss any disclosure with clients beforehand where possible.

If exceptional circumstances arise during any therapy session your consent will be sought for a change in the agreement.

Please bear in mind that the therapist's number will appear on the itemised phone bill and the payment details will appear on your card statement.
